The Angel's Depot Story

They fought our wars, paid taxes, built families, businesses, schools and churches. They handed down a legacy of freedom, hope and opportunity to the next generations . . . and yet, over 50,000 of these brave senior citizens live below poverty level in San Diego County. Many suffer from malnutrition and must choose between buying food and medicine each month. They are a proud generation who suffer in silence. We call these deserving senior citizens our "Quiet Heroes."

In an effort to provide humanitarian relief to these impoverished elderly, The Angel's Depot, a San Diego, California, 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, was created to provide "Senior Food-for-a-Week" Emergency Meal Boxes. These nutritious, nonperishable easily prepared foods are FREE to senior citizens living on $950 or less per month. The emergency food boxes are distributed to pre-qualified seniors through easily accessed sites such as senior centers, churches, nonprofits assisting seniors and government agencies who provide senior programs.

Poverty, hunger and malnutrition are a vicious circle, compromising physical and emotional health and wellbeing. Nutrition is the single most significant factor that affects and defines the health of all people, but it especially defines the elderly poor.

Given the resources we have the ability to garner, we believe we have a moral mandate to relieve this suffering. These citizens are living in poverty in the richest country in the world. They have courageously done their part for our great country . . . we cannot let them suffer in their fragile senior years. It is not the American way.

Please . . . consider donating to The Angel's Depot. Please take a moment to stroll through our web site to better understand our seniors living in poverty. Along the way, you will meet the "angels" who are helping us make a wonderful difference in the lives of the elderly poor. May we count you among them?
